Archipelago of Chinijo Natural Park
Covered 9.112 hectares extension in the municipal terms of Haría and Teguise.

It is formed by all the islands in the north of Lanzarote (La Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste), the fringe ofthe westem coast ofthe Famara massif and Lomo Blanco's plains and Blanca coast, including the surrounding sea. It was declared a Natural park in 1986, being the first Spanish marine terrestrial natural park.

These two natural units, so different from each other, were integrated due to the high natural values and landscape that converge in the area of contact of these two natural spaces.

Riscos of Famara forms an impressive cliff with 500 m. approximately of medium height, 22 km. length and 4 km. wide. The maximum height is Peñas del Chache with 670 m. It is a dominant point of the island.

Famara constitutes an important botanical focus not only at the archipelago level but at the world level. In 6% of the territory is located 75% of Lanzarote endemic plant life is located. Out of the 291 present species inside the park, 19 are insular endemism (14 exclusive of Famara), 21 from the Oriental Islands, 24 canary and 11 macaronesics.

The islands rise on a submarine platform with 100 m. approximately of medium depth. The surface of each one of them is as follows: La Graciosa, 27 sq. km., Alegranza, 11,7 sq. km.; Montaña Clara, 1,12 sq. km.; Roque del Este, 0,71 sq. km.; Roque del Oeste, 0,06 sq. km.

Another picturesque point to highlight inside the park is the oldest of Canary, Salinas del Río, conditioned by Sancho de Rerrera, the first gentleman of Lanzarote. Ihe access is easy by smal! crafts from Caleta de Famara, Orzola and Caleta del Sebo, or on foot by a path that communicates these salt flats with the valley of Guinate and Vega Chica (near Ye). Being the nearest road between La Graciosa and Lanzarote.
