Las Salinas del Janubio
Las Salinas del Janubio is a place of scientific interest where not only the fauna is protected, but also the traditional method of extracting salt from the seawater. Before the eruptions of 1730-1736, it was the best natural harbour on Lanzarote, but the eruptions created a sand bar that closed this point forming a lake called La Caleta de Janubio.

The road leads through fields of broken lava rocks, past a green lagoon, towards EI Golfo. There is a lovely wild black beach by the lagoon, backed by menacing volcanic cliffs. But be very carful - it is not the place for swimming - it's to dangerous!

From there it is not far to drive to "El Golfo" - a lonely fishermens village - now with famous fish restaurants and other bars and placeas next to the wild beach. The rocky beach is fantastic...

The village of El Golfo is best known for its restaurants which provide freshly caught fish. A wonderful excursion with impressive experiences of nature!
